Terps Lacrosse 16 vs Yale 10

May 3, 08

We toured the campus for an hour. Sarah is considering Maryland. In 1979 I appeared in the annual football highlight film (yes "film") in this same spot.

That's the Biology Psychology building on the left. We used to hold nightly team meetings in that building with Coach Claiborne. During our summer two-a-day practices we would meet there after dinner. He would speak on some aspect of the game. The "rubber band theory of defense" was always on the agenda, bend but don't break. Most memorably, we set out team goals in the first session. He would walk into the room and ask simply - "Men, what are out goals for this season." The seniors always provided the answers. Win the national championship, win our conference championship etc. Every Friday night before a game, he reviewed where we stood against those goals we set on the first night of camp.

The ODK fountain in the middle of the mall. This shows the 1979 inductees with some of my friends on the list.

The tradition of events on the mall continues today. Here they were setting up for a hip hop dance show. Sarah and Scott liked it.

Senior Day at Byrd Stadium. Last home game for the Terps.

Nick Ward #25, son of my teammate Chris Ward.

Chris and Robin Ward. They know too much.............. No death grips were issued this day. Their oldest, Mike, plays at Duke, their youngest at Gettysburg and of course Nick plays for Maryland. A great accomplishment!
